    Summer Project – GeoGebra

 

 

 

What is it?      GeoGebra is a free and multi-platform dynamic mathematics software for secondary school students to learn geometry, algebra and calculus. It is absolutely free.

 

 

Task 1  Download

 

Download the free program :  

http://www.geogebra.org/cms/index.php?lang=en

 

You can easily change the site to Chinese version by using the choose box in the upper right corner of the above web-site.

You can find the “Download” icon on the left frame of the site. Click and get both the software and the Geogebra webstart.

 

If you cannot find the software, you may try:

Task 2  Learn how to use

 

1.   Follow the lessons given by “Mathcasts and ExamViewWiki”:

      You can learn a lot of things.

2.   Go to Youtube:        http://youtube.com/results?search_query=geogebra&search=Search

      And search for the word “GeoGebra

     

      You can watch some video there. Since GeoGebra can be used in many languages, some videos are in foreign languages other than English or Chinese. However, you may guest easily what even they are in other languages.

 

3.   Study one or two examples in the Dynamic worksheet given by the main page in GeoGebra:   http://www.geogebra.org/cms/index.php?lang=en

 

4.   Use your downloaded GeoGebra to make some explorations on the usage.

 

 

Task 3  Learn More

 

1.   Go to the Wikipedia:         

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeoGebra

      Study the Teaching materials suggested there.

 

2.   Join the GeoGebraWiki : 

      http://www.geogebra.org/en/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

      It needs some effort in registration. After that, you can login and study many, many worksheets! You can learn some geometry, algebra and even calculus on your own.

 

3.   Use search engines such as Yahoo or Google. Search for the words:

      GeoGebra dynamic worksheet”

      You can get more things to learn if you have lots of energy to carry on!
